08.12.06 The fact that the Irish judge Harry O'Donoghue has been changed to Kari Järvinen(FIN) at the Finnish Winner 2006 Dogshow for this Sunday, is the worst thing that can happen just one day before our trip to Helsinki. This is really the worst change that can influence the judging of the English type English setters at this particular show. It is somehow good that we do not have the temptation to spend quite a lot of money to this trip any more.
So, we will stay at home and go to walk the dogs in the woods instead.
We are a little bit sad too, because it was ment to be the last dog show for this year. I sincerely hope that we will have better luck during the next year!
02.12.06 We visited the Puppy & Veteran Christmas Show with Annie. Little Annie behaved very well and the judge Mrs.Lilian Hanniste (EST) liked her very much. //Of course Annie liked Lilian Hanniste too - and wished to give several kisses to Mrs.Hanniste while she was judging our little girl//.
Aivi (Wind Chart kennel) made some photos of Annie, here is one of these:
Thank you Aivi for the photos!!
Annie's description is up at her own show-page HERE.
14.11.06 2 new photos of 7 months old Annie are HERE!
04.11.06 We attended the International dogshow in Tartu. English setters entered 4, the judge Hans Rosenberg (Sweden).
I really do not understand what has happened in Estonia: there are no field-type English setters living here, but the judge invited to the show prefers the type - the organisers of the show should have known it before inviting that judge. So, all the 4 show-type English setters received only "very good", including my Happy's result: CH class "very good".
I have nothing against that my dogs get sometimes "very good" as marks, but the description of: "... too round in body"; "...straight in a croup"; "...moves in a very short step behind and in a front and with no attitude." I am really very sad to read this! Although some weeks ago I thought I had very nice show-dogs at home, it seems that with this description all this show-dog quality as gone away!
Oh yes, it was just one show! And we will not bother about it - the show must go on!
30.10.06 New photos of 6 months old Annie can be found HERE!
26.09.06 I have collected some of the photos of my dogs from the different dog shows over the years to the separate page HERE! I will update the page with new photos regularily.
25.09.06 Visiting Ahvenamaa (Aland) in September has been our tradition of some years already. Every time we have lovely camp of English setter loving people together and of course the English setters. At Eckerö dogshow (8 English setters entered), the judge Bertil Lundgren (Sweden) gave my dogs the following results: Batman - "excellent", Best male 1, BOB, CACIB; - this time it was Batman's turn to surprise us!
Happy - "excellent", Best male 2, res-CACIB.
Best bitch and BOS was Nattaset Special Spice - congratulations to owner Minna and breeder Jaana!
Thank you to all our travel companions: Jaana, Katja V., Katja H., Tuula, Anita, Satu - we had such a lovely weekend!
18.09.06 New photos of 5 months old Annie are HERE!
13.09.06 Getting any kind of CH-title should never be easy, so our Happy still misses one CAC to become Hungarian Champion.
We spent a lovely weekend in Hungary visiting Kecskemét city. As the summer here in northern countries has ended already, it was good to feel the warmth of the sun again - the weather in Hungary was still very sunny and summer-like!
We also took part in Kecskemét 2 x CACIB dogshow with Happy. Here are the results: Saturday, 09-th of September:
Entry of English setters: 19. Judge: Attila Czeglédi (Hungary); Happy: CH class "excellent" 1, Best male, CAC, CACIB, qualification for Crufts show. Sunday, 10-th of September:
Entry of English setters: 19. Judge Jose Antonio Amaral (Portugal) unfortunately preferred the american type of the English setter, so Happy lost to american type dogs being CH class "excelllent" 2 with Res-CAC.
Thank you, Ildikó and Laszló, for everything that concerned our trip!!! It was so nice to meet you again!!!!
10.09.06 Pepper has received the title of "Derby Cup-Sieger des Jahres 2006". More information about the title can be found HERE.
Sibille and Frank, you have done the excellent work with Pepper! We are very proud of you!
03.09.06 Yesterday we spent a lovely day in Finland taking part in Helsinki all-breed dogshow. There were 29 English setters entered, the judge for us was Mrs. Valerie Foss from England.
Happy surprised us so very much - he was chosen Best Male and BOS!!
Happy's daughter Kessie did also well by getting "excellent" in a very hard competition in open class bitches (12 entries).
BOB went to the sister of my Batman: Nattaset Blue Catwoman "Lilli". CONGRATULATIONS! - Jaana & Katja!!.
23.08.06 I have got the good news from Germany:
Last Sunday (20.08.06) Pepper attended the dogshow in Austria Schloß Falkenburg in Kärnten by the judge Geoff Tong (UK). Pepper's result:

24.07.06 We had a lovely weekend here in Estonia full of setters and dogshows.
Saturday, 22-nd of July - all-breed CAC-show in Haapsalu; judge Mr. Istvan Nagy (Hungary); 24 English setters entered: Happy received "excellent" in CH-class and was placed Best Male 3-rd.
Sunday, 23-rd of July - Setter Special Show at Liuranna; judge Mr. John Barber (England); 30 English setters entered: Batman received "excellent" and was placed 2-nd in working class.
Happy received "excellent" in CH-class and was placed Best Male 2-nd.
Annie was very brave having her first dogshow ever receiving the title of best tiny bitch puppy being BOS puppy 3-6months.
Thank you to all the "setter-gang" for the nice companion with whom we had the barbeque evening at Saturday!!!!
/Photos will be added as soon as I manage to sort them out!/
15.07.06 Fortunaviola Kitty Princes "Pepper" attended the VDS Club open show in Bremen with the result V2 and VDS Champion Res. The judge was Mrs. Elaine Roberts (GB). Congratulations Sibille and Frank!
Also lovely news from Laura: Fortunaviola Kora Gracia "Kessie" attended the national dogshow in Minsk, Belorussia with getting the needed CC to become BLR ShCH ( judge: W. Werbitskij, Russia).
Thank you Relika and Laura for the good news! I am always keeping my fingers crossed for you!
11.07.06 The very first days in Estonia. //Not easy to take a good picture of so active girl like Annie is//:
09.07.06 We have arrived home from our trip to England. We visited a lot of picturesque places in England and as well in Germany and Belgium. As we are the typical "crazy" English setter lovers, we could not resist the temptation, and we came home with the tiny creature from the Bournehouse kennel in England. So, little sweetheart Annie is now living here. Her mother is Bournehouse Royal Lace and father: Wansleydale Witch Doctor.
Annie has captured our souls and fulfilled our hearts with joy in a very short time already - she has the real English setter temperament, she is so lovely! I am very-very thankful to Mrs. Penny and Mr. Gordon Williams for the trust to let me have this sweety girl to live here in Estonia!
I will make the special internet page for Annie as soon as possible. The photos of Annie and of course about our journey will be added in a short time.
22.06.06 Always young from the bottom of his heart - this is our Happy! You are now 3 years old already - Happy Birthday!
These two winter photos of Iron Man of Slow Fox "Happy" have not been published before.
22.06.06 The few photos from our journey to Poland are here.
20.06.06 Plus 30 degrees of Celsius makes the water in the pool so popular. Watch this!
16.06.06 HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY DEAR BATMAN - 5 YEARS IS A REMARKABLE AGE ALREADY! Today I looked at the old photos and I found these:
13.06.06 On the 08-th of June 8 pure english type English setter puppies (4 males + 4 bitches) were born in Estonia. The father of the puppies is from Belgium, young and handsome: Bournefield Dice (kennel Bournefield). The mother of the puppies is also very pretty: Nattaset Piece of Moon "Bertta" (kennel Chlodovech).
Both parents are hip-scored and healthy. They have several excellent results from the dogshows all over Europe. If you have the interest in having a puppy from this combination, please contact Annika: annika.kalberg@mail.ee or you can contact me.
11.06.06 We were having a lovely weekend in Finland meeting our Happy's breeders from Hungary: Ildiko & Laszlo. It was so nice to meet you again!!!
We also took part in the European Winner 2006 show in Helsinki. The judge Per Iversen (Norway) obviously preferred the american type of the English setter, so our results were not so excellent: Happy received "very good" and was placed 3-rd (the last one) in working class.
06.06.06 Yesterday evening we arrived from our trip to Poland to take part in the Polish Setter Clubshow at Saturday in Koszelowka and all-breed CAC show at Sunday in Gostynin. Before the trip I already thought that as I have written so many stories about my Polish adventures, that I have said enough already and this time I will stay silent. But I cannot be silent this time as well:
The clubshow was all OK. Although the prize-table was not so generous and there were not so many dogs taking part in the show, it was all well organised and beautiful! The judge Miss June Reed (UK) gave Happy "excellent" with Polish CC.
**
But the show at Sunday was just the opposite. I would like to warn every setter owner about the judge Vaclav Vlasak (Czech Republic) - oh, yes, this time I will shout it loud, and I will be so rude to criticize in person! It was really the most discusting and most brutal way how Mr. Vlasak was handling the dogs at the showring while judging them. After asking from which country we came to the dogshow (I still do not understand how does it connect with the judging of the dog from which country anyone is), he simply tore the dog's mouth open (like crocodiles open the mouth) to see the full dentition. My Happy was just screaming from pain and I walked away from the showring just in the middle of judging. Although Mr. Vlasak agreed to look over my Happy again more gently after the showring was officially over, and he finally gave Happy the "excellent" mark - he did it again, I assume this time deliberately, showing his superiority: with brutal manly power he tore Happy's mouth open several times, Happy was screaming from pain! I asked to stop it at once! But Mr. Vlasak did not mind - only mumbled about missing teeth. There were several witnesses who saw what happened there, among those the president of the Polish club and also the judge of the clubshow at Saturday, Miss June Reed.
After that dogshow I have been thinking a lot about the purpose of dogshows: should it be fun for the dog-owners and dogs too?! Shouldn't it be free of stress hobby for everyone?! Every dog owner, as a pack leader, should protect the lower pack members from violence - how can I do it at the dogshow with the judge like Mr. Vlasak?!
We all learn from mistakes we make during our lifetime. I wonder why are the mistakes we are sometimes making (this time the mistake was attending the show with the judge Mr. Vlasak) such big ones - it may be so hard to correct the mistakes for the future)))). I really hope Happy did not get any lifetime stress for the future dogshows... I really regret that we made this trip to Poland... I really hate when animals are violated by humans...
25.05.06 I would like to recommend the puppies of English setters born yesterday at the kennel Farthingale in Sweden. There are some male puppies still available. Would you please take a look at the homepage of kennel Farthingale!
21.05.06 Pepper, Fortunaviola Kitti Princes attended the gunshot test in Germany. And the result is: unafraid to gunshot.
20.05.06 My good friend in Poland, Agata (kennel Magenta), had 13 English setter puppies born in her kennel some days ago. This is a record number, isn't it! HERE is the homepage of kennel Magenta.
*****
We will be having English setter puppies here in Estonia too: as Nattaset Piece of Moon "Bertta" will have her first litter in the middle of June in the kennel Chlodovech.
20.05.06 I have received a nice photo from Tiina & Marek. I couldn't give up the temptation to show it here. May I present - Barry & Morris:

All the detailed results will soon be at ESA website.
Thank you, Aivi, for the nice photos!
24.04.06 This passed weekend I had the possibility to visit England, the ESA Championship Show in Coventry. The total entry number of dogs at the show was: 265.
Here I would like to thank our hosts Mr. David & Mrs. Linda Taylor (kennel Wansleydale)for all the care and patience towards us. We enjoyed our weekend which was full of lovely English setters so very much!
20.04.06 I just got the two nice photos of "Willy" Fortunaviola Dilan Pikkolo (Iron Man of Slow Fox "Happy" x Nattaset Special Moment "Alma", owner: Relika Reisberg) taken at the day Willy got his EST JCH rosette. Thank you Relika for the lovely photos! Willy has grown into such a nice boy!
08.04.06 We had the opportunity to practice searching of pheasants at the Gundog Special Practising Field near Suure-Jaani. The owner of the homestead Kalev Võitla was giving us advice how to teach the dog to search birds and how the dogs must use their instincts. Happy and Batman found all the pheasants which were hidden in the grass. This time Batman was very active and in a very good mood - he pointed several birds and was very keen in searching them. We had a lovely day which ended with dinner of roasted pheasants as a meal. It was so nice that many setter-owners were present, I hope everybody had a good time!
31.03.06 Swannery Valucia Sparkler "Leo" (owned by Ria Häkkinen, Finland). P.S. The late owner of Leo insisted me on wiping out the announcement of this day here. So, I obeyed the order.
24.03.06 Today is a very special day for us! Because we received the International Show Champion (Int ShCH) diploma for Batman from Belgium. The diploma is dated from 06-th of March 2006.
Congratulations and big hugs to you Jaana (kennel Nattaset) for breeding such a lovely boy we are lucky to have here!
19.03.06 We just came home from Latvia, Riga where the Latvian Winner 2006 International Dogshow was held. The judge for setters was Mr. Vilmos Kardos(Hungary). There were 7 English setters present. My dogs received the following results:
Happy - working class "excellent" 2/2, best male 2/3, Res-CACIB, CAC;
Batman - CH-class "excellent" 1/3, best male 3/3. We can apply for the LV CH and Balt CH with Happy now.
06.03.06 I got wonderful news from Germany: yesterday Fortunaviola Kitti Princes "Pepper" with her owner Sibille attended the Setter Derby Clubshow in Austria. The judge was Mrs. Rosemary Ramsey (England). Here is Pepper's result: excellent, Derby Sieger Österreich, Clubsieger, CAC, Res-CACIB. Mrs. Ramsey described Pepper as follows: "Wonderful tricolour bitch, very feminine head. Good bones, angulation, topline and tailset. Perhaps free in her movement."
Congratulations Sibille & Frank! We are so-so proud of Pepper & you! I think you have to repeat it again at the next dogshow!

11.02.06 Today we were at International Dogshow in Tallinn. The judge for English setters: Stelios Makaritis(Greece). Dogs entered: 3 (2 males, 1 bitch). Happy & me managed to get "the last place", i.e. Happy was Best Male 2-nd, but we got a very nice description from the judge.
05.02.06 I love to make photos of my dogs because it is not so easy. Especially Happy: usually I get only the backround to the photo, because he has always the energy of two setters...but... HERE I enjoyed some winter portraits taken today.
28.01.06 We spent a nice day in Tallinn at the Estonian Setter Club Clubshow(not official). The judge invited was Mrs. Sinnika Thag (Kennel Danamoor, Sweden), the amount of English setters present: 6.

/Unfortunately Batman could not attend the show, because he slipped on the ice and sprained his leg./
22.01.06 The day we visited Finland, Turku International Dogshow. The English setter entry: 18 dogs, judge: Michael Boothroyd, England. The results of my dogs: Happy - excellent, Working class 1/1, best male 3/4, Res-CAC; Batman - excellent, CH-class 1/1, best male 4/4. BOB was charming Nattaset Special Spice - my warmest congratulations to Minna!
14.01.06 Today we had the opportunity to take part in the real hunt for pheasants at Saaremaa. It was a great thing to watch how our show type dogs were acting when they had a possibility to set for the real and alive bird. Happy found and set for 7 pheasants. Batman did almost the same. In the evening we were also invited to have dinner together with hunters tasting delicious deer and wild boar meat.
Thank you, Aivi, for inviting us along to take part in this event - we are very grateful!
/I hope that at least some of the photos that Aivi made will be soon at her homepage. /
