We have turned on the new white page of our life as little Robin arrived to live here as our family member.
He is from Radbrooks kennel from England, bred by Miss Fiona Tompsett. I am really very thankful to Fiona for all the trust in me to let me have this tiny little creature.
I am also very thankful to Jaana (kennel Nattaset) for the help in taking the long trip to London.
At this moment we will be taking a short break from dog shows and will be concentrating more to our new addition.

We may be planning puppies to our sweetheart Grace.
The possible sire of the puppies will be announced after a while and he will certainly be from matching breeding-lines.
If someone feels to have a lot of patience and a good sense of humour to have their household upside down with having an English Setter puppy, please contact me for more details.

We took part in the International Dogshow in Tartu.
The English Setter entry was 9, and the judge for us was Jos Dekker (Holland).
This time Grace together with Anne-Stiina ran so well beating the two other competitors in the open class and ending up with the final result of:
open class excellent 1/3, best bitch 1, CACIB, BOS .
We are very-very pleased with this result, as we can apply for the title of C.I.E. - International Beauty Champion!

While we were in Finland Seaset Silver Snowwhite "Roxy" together with her owner Nicole were competing in Komarom, Hungary, at the Setter Clubshow.
The judge there was a breed-specialist Mrs. Leen Van Genechten from Belgium.
It still feels like a miracle, but little Roxy ran to beat all the setters at this show being BOB and later BIS1!
Besides, Roxy received her last CAC for the Hungarian Champion title.
We are here so proud of Roxy and Nicole!
And so very thankful to Mrs. Leen Van Genechten for valuing the breeding lines that we have here.

A weekend spent in Turku, Finland to take part in the International Dogshow.
The judge was Dick Rutten (Holland) with 13 English setters entered. Dick Rutten seemed to be very critical and strict about our breed giving several "good" and "very good" remarks.
So considering this, our Grace was very lucky to get a nice description with the final result of:
open class exc. 3/5, Best bitch 2-nd, CAC, res-CACIB.
Grace was so well handled by Anne-Stiina!

So, after the Setter Clubshow in Riga we drove southwards instead of north. The destination was Romania with its capital Bucharest.
In Bucharest we had 2 International Dogshows: on Thursday, 04-th of October, there was "Bucharest Winner 2012" show and on Friday, 05-th of October, the "European Winner 2012" show.
Two shows with totally different styles of judging resulted as follows:

- 04-th of October; judge: Tamas Jakkel (Hungary), entry: 10 English setters:
Grace got in open class excellent 1, CAC, Best Bitch 1, CACIB, title: "Bucharest Winner 2012".

- 05-th of October; judge: Laurent Pichard (Switzerland), entry 22 English setters:
Grace ended up in open class excellent 2/2, res-CAC.
This day (what a pity - as a result of the change of judge by the organisers of the show) all the winners were from totally different type than all my dogs are.

Romania itself is a very interesting country - of course could have wanted to explore it more thoroughly as travelling with a dog sets up certain limits for visiting many places. And all those stray dogs there wandering about made it quite hard to walk with Grace along the places - every street-dog wished to come and greet our beautiful lady-Grace from foreign faraway Estonia :).
Anyway, here are my few photos from the trip:

Although I didn't quite agree with all of the judge's opinion (do I always have to?!), our Grace got excellent 2/2 in the open class with CC and was placed as Best Bitch 2.
Not a bad result, when thinking of the judge's strict attitude towards certain breed-types.

The summer seems to be over and the autumn is coming with a rush.
We have not been to dogshows meanwhile - I was a bit sad about not attending the annual Estonian Setter Special Show for already a second year in a row. But the more I am now waiting for some coming dog shows at the end of this year.

We started towards Tartu already at Saturday spending the night just by the coast of Võrtsjärv at the territory of Vaibla Resting Camp.
At Sunday, quite early in the morning, we were supposed to be at Ülenurme, where the National Dogshow was held.
Although the judge for English setters was changed for some unknown reason, our newly announced judge Dorothea Carroll from Ireland seemed to like our breed-type too, giving Grace the last CAC needed with the following result: open class "excellent" 1/2, best bitch 1, BOS.

It has been quite quiet here.
In June I was working hard to finish the economic year of our company. After finishing the annual economical year report I felt so very emotionally empty, decided to run away for a while spending ten days in Luxembourg and Germany visiting the wine-making regions there.
When we came back, our sweetheart Max was very ill having digestive problems - thanks to antibiotics he is doing much better now, although still eating only goodies and refusing the normal dog food.
But the progress in general has been good when thinking of the fact that he did not eat anything for three days. He is skinny and weak at the moment, but I hope he will be recovering for better. He will be turning 13 years just in a few weeks.

I have got the HD results of Grace as B/C from the Finnish Kennel Union.
I have also decided to leave this story just like this at this time.
But certainly I will be much more wiser, if I will ever have to make the HD x-ray again for any other dog of mine in the future.
I have learnt so much from this experience!

Seaset Silver Snowwhite "Roxy" is very much at the winning mood, being BOB at the International Dogshow in Pecs, Hungary on the 23-rd of June by the judge Vítor Manuel C. Veiga (Portugal).

We took part in the "Estonian Winner 2012" International Dogshow with our Happy and Grace.
The entry of English setters was 16 and the judge for us was Ludovica Salamon (Italy).
Happy was presented in the veteran class, he was the only veteran English setter this time and lucky to gain the BOBvet with the title of "Estonian Veteran Winner 2012".
As I have decided that this show was the last one for our sweetheart Happy, it is a nice result with which to end Happy's show-carreer and let him retire from showing.
Grace was presented in the open class. Having one competitor she won this class, got "excellent" remark, but we were not good enough to get the judge's attention to compete for the line-up of the final four best bitches of the show. According to the description Grace needs more length of legs and she is too heavy from head.
So this show day ended like this!

I did not have the camera with me, so there are probably no photos of my dogs at this show.

Seaset Silver Snowwhite "Roxy" and her owner Nicole (Paradise setters) seem to be unbeatable: competing very well at the Setter Derby-Österreich official Clubshow for all setter breeds. The judge was Mrs. Leen van Genechten (Belgium).
From 18 entries of English setters Roxy was BOB!
We are so very proud of you, Roxy and Nicole!!!!
I also hope to get some photos of Roxy soon.

The life is full of different choices. This time I had to choose between either going to Austria or Holland. And I chose Holland. It is not wise to regret big decisions, so... - we took part in two dogshows: one in Dortmund, Germany, the other in Delft, Holland.
As our little Grace was having her season, probably "the most difficult" part of it, it was not so easy to handle her at the dogshows - thanks to Anne-Stiina for doing it so well anyway!
Like it was somehow expected, we ended up at both shows getting no recognition by the judges.
Here are the results:
Dortmund, National show, British Dog Festival:
judge: Patsy Hollings (UK), entry 21 English setters.
Grace received: excellent, open class 2/3.

Delft, Holland, VES Clubshow:
judge: Tereza Watkins (UK), entry 40 English setters.
Grace received: excellent, breeder's class 3/3.

Anyway, we were lucky to receive the excellent remark at both days!

During these 10 days of journey we drove about 5000 km along Europe and besides, had the whole Saturday free for driving around Holland to have a glimpse of this beautiful country.
There were so many birds in Holland, that our Grace just got crazy about them - we never have seen so many different species of birds in such a short time.
As there were plenty of photographers at the VES Clubshow in Holland, I did not make any photos there.

Annie turned 6 years old today.
Times flies so quickly indeed. It looks like it was only some weeks ago when we travelled to Yoxall, UK, to pick up our long waited little Annie.
Now she is already an adult dog.
Every day when we go for a walk, especially now in spring, it makes me swear - if only someone could remove all those birds during our time of walk - if only we could walk without pulling the leash and setting to the birds every now and then.
P.S. In fact I admire the instincts of sensing the game of Annie and her daughter Grace so very much!

The winter seems to have come back - we have snow again covering the ground.

I have promised to take some photos of our Max.
So here they are - not the best ones, as Max was not so very thrilled to pose me.
Being now more than 12,5 years old, his back legs are quite weak, but the mind is still clear.
He can be very energetic too, especially when the doggy-ladies are around or some good dog food is served :).

I did not take my camera with me to the National Dogshow in Rakvere today. And I do not know why it is always so, that when I need my camera, I have not got it with me.
So, I have no photos from the dogshow, where our little Grace got excellent results from the judge Ms. Inga Siil (Estonia) being best bitch 1, BOB (from 2 entries of English setters) and later competing in the FCI Group 7 competiton by the judge Wim Wellens (Holland) getting the result of BIG1 .
Grace was handled so well by Anne-Stiina - thank you!
What a lovely day we had!

Seaset Silver Snowwhite "Roxy" together with her owner Nicole (Paradise setters) was competing very well at the Setter Derby-Österreich unofficial Clubshow for all setter breeds. The judge was Mrs. Karen Nagaty from UK.
Roxy was winning the open class and finally got the result of best bitch 2.
Well done little Roxy!
Besides Nicole wrote me that Roxy is practising a little bit of field-trial being very enthusiastic about searching and finding birds.
We keep the fingers crossed here for Nicole and Roxy, for maybe the dream will come true and Roxy will get some results at the field-trials in Austria in the future.

I am so sad that in our country we still do not have any possibilities to train and practice the field-trial like there are traditions in other European countries where the population of wild pheasants and other field birds is normal.
Our Grace is just crazy about the birds, so is her dam Annie, but we do not have the trainers, and we do not have the tradition of field-trials.
The most peculiar thing about is, that our Estonian Kennel Union still demands the field-trial result as a part of getting the Estonian champion title for the setter-dogs. How it is possible to demand the result, when it is not possible to make it?!

Many of the people have been asking whether I will make the litter to either our Annie or Grace in the future.
And I have answered that I do not really know when, and if there will be a litter ever.
We have made the x-ray for Grace's hip-dysplasia and waiting for the results from our kennel union. One of Grace's hips is looking very nice, but the other one seems to be not good.
But due to the gossip around making the HD-pictures here in Estonia at the moment, I do not know anymore - if it all is doubtful or trustful. When thinking that making a litter of any setter-breed is only depending on the opinion of two persons in Estonia, who decide if the HD-picture is of good quality and the result will be A, B, C or D (according to the breeding-rules of Estonian Setter Club we cannot use the dog with D-hips in breeding), then it simply makes me shiver!
There are so many dog breeds that do not have any breeding-rules. Some people say to cancel the breeding rules - anyway every breeder has to be responsible for the result of what comes out with your kennel name. Some breeders say that you breed the general outlook and character, you do not breed the hip-result.
Our English setters are very healthy, they have the true English setter character and they have also maintained the sense for game.
So suddenly there come some wise people who tell your dog is having problems with hips - you cannot breed this dog.
Maybe there is a moment to stop and think about!

We are back home safe and sound from the trip to Birmingham, UK.
We visited some museums, also the Warwick castle.
But of course, the aim of the visit was Crufts and the beautiful English setters there.
The weather in Birmingham was just fine and warm. Even after only 3 days of staying there, it is quite hard to adjust with our snow, cold wind and minus degrees.
But life goes on, doesn't it!

Life here seems to be quite quiet.
All exept we have not been feeling so well: the humans have been suffering from severe flu and besides, our Happy had the flammation of the urinary glands.
I was really worried about our Happy feeling miserable, but thanks to the good vets he is the true Happy now again.
The spring is really on its way - it clearly is seen and felt in the air now even in our northern country.
After a week or so we will be travelling to England again, and I am so much waiting for to visit the Crufts to look at all those beautiful English setters there!

Today I made portraits of our 3 friends. At first I thought that I cannot put those pictures up for public, because the dogs are not trimmed - they really look shaggy and untidy.
But... I had the temptation, because my camera (together with the lens) made quite good photos - really, why not expose these.
If people would understand that I do care for my dogs and trim them consistently and often.
12,5 years old Max is missing from those portraits. I will try to make a portrait of him during the nearest days. The excuse for the missing picture is, that Max was sleeping so tight inside the house at the sofa and I did not want to disturb him for the photo shooting.

The year started with the visit to our neigbour country Finland to take part in the Turku International Dogshow at Saturday, 21-st of January. Besides, we were invited to the Nattaset kennel Invitational Setter show at Sunday.
We really enjoyed the both days at dogshows very-very much: the competition in the showring was hard, but this time it seemed to be a fair competition among the correct type of the English setter breed representatives. It was really lovely to see so many English type English setters participating at the shows and enjoying those two days!
Special thank you goes to Jaana (kennel Nattaset), who invited us to the show at Sunday.
